Testimonials

“I lost my mom to cancer when I was 23 and my father passed away when I was 15. I was diagnosed with breast cancer two days after my 34th birthday this year. It has been a long and emotional road starting with IVF egg retrieval, port placement and followed by starting Chemo in February. Everything has happened so quickly and has been financially draining. Fertility perseveration was not covered by insurance either. Between cold capping and fertility preservation it has put a large impact on my savings account. I am so thankful for programs like Shades of Pink- they stepped in and paid a majority of my bills for a month. This is substantial. I live alone so the burden of bills is mine alone.”

“I would like to personally thank Shades of Pink Foundation for helping me get through my financial crisis during the holiday season. I really didn’t know what I was going to do because I only worked part-time and I take care of my disabled dad. My daughter had to quit her job due to the fact that I had to take treatment for my breast cancer and I was watching her child (my granddaughter). We all live together in one household so it was a bit much trying to keep the bills up and also keeping up with all my doctors visits and so forth, but Shades of Pink really helped me through it all and lifted quite a bit off my shoulders. They not only helped me with three months of rent but also paid my utility bill for a month…I thank you for your support and your generous help during this difficult time.”

“Although I've been working as much as possible through the cancer and chemotherapy, the amount of missed days has added up quickly and seriously impacted my ability to make ends meet. The help that Shades of Pink has given me to bridge that gap has brought immense relief and helped alleviate stress that is also going to help in my healing journey. I cannot begin to thank you enough!”

“…Thank you for helping me pay my bills during radiation treatment. I will never forget your generosity.”

“I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer in 2021, then in July of 2023 I was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma of the right breast. I felt hopeless, things were spiraling out of control…SOPF helped me to not stress about a few bills, and focus on my health and recovery. I am so thankful and grateful for the financial assistance that I received from Shades of Pink!”

“I wanted to say how much I appreciate the assistance I was given for my mortgage payments. It was really a relief and it it made life a bit easier. If there is anything I can do to help ease the stress of someone else please let me know. Thank you so much.”

“I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Unfortunately, I was unable to work during my treatment. My family was faced with mounting medical bills and personal debt. We never required help in the past. We were too ashamed to ask our family and friends for help. We were referred to this organization by a medical professional. Thanks to Shades of Pink Foundation, my family was able to cover our household expenses. This helped us tremendously. We cannot thank you enough for your generosity.”

“As a single mother, age 45, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. It quickly flipped our lives upside down and a lot of uncertainty started to step in. This organization helped our family to meet great financial burdens that started to pile up. Our family is filled with gratitude for organizations that seek to meet cancer patients’ needs and help reduce the burdens where they can. We are forever grateful and can focus on getting better.”

“Thank you so much! I am so grateful for your support during this unexpected season of my life. Having this financial weight lifted in any way helps me so that I can focus on my recovery.”

“It has been two years since my breast cancer diagnosis. I continue to be grateful and humbled by your kindness and generosity. Your foundation helped us so much by paying multiple bills for us - AAA, Comcast, DTE, and our mortgage. That allowed us to keep paying all of the medical bills that were coming in. We appreciated it so much and still do.”

“Thank you so much for your gracious financial provision for me as I continue to receive treatment. I can’t tell you how much stress this has lifted from me, enabling me to focus on my health needs and healing. God bless you!”

“. . . Saying thank you is not enough to describe our gratefulness and appreciation for the wonderful generosity of the donors that give to your foundation.”

“Without your help, I would have been without my car, car insurance, light, gas . . . Thank you once again for showing me how one can be an exemplary person and an excellent support system. I consider you not only a person, but a valuable mentor and friend.”

“After (you) contacted me this morning I actually thought I was dreaming or imagining this. This will save my apartment and car . . . More importantly I will not have to apply for state assistance. I wanted to avoid the stress and humiliation.”

“This fall my social worker applied on my behalf for assistance from Shades of Pink. I recently became aware of a payment for our car insurance and a car payment, but I didn’t know who made these payments. Today (I found out) it was from you. Besides all my unexpected medical bills, I lost my job . . . these bills being paid has lifted my spirits tremendously.”

“While on my journey, I was let go of my job of four years. I also lost my house. In my difficult time, I was introduced to Shades of Pink Foundation. I was able to get transportation to my doctors’ appointments, and SOPF provided me with help so I wouldn’t lose all my belongings. Being a single mom is scary but adding breast cancer causes a threat to sanity and survival. Your financial help had made it more manageable.”

“Words cannot express the coming along side our family and helping us. Thank you for helping families like mine.”

“I received a call yesterday that was an awesome and welcome surprise . . . Your foundation is paying my house payment and utilities and the timing couldn’t be more appreciated . . . I have been unable to work . . . after a bilateral mastectomy and several complications and surgeries. My short-term disability expired . . . and I was thinking I would have to sell my home and move . . . Your gift is amazing and appreciated beyond words.”
