Past Events of The Foundation
2005
In November 2005 we had a cooking class and Italian evening at a friend and supporter's home. It was a wonderful fun-filled evening. The festivities began with a social hour before the class began. Seated with new and old friends at small tables, we watched a demonstration of the preparation of classic Italian dishes. Viewing the mouth-watering preparation of the dishes, our appetites were ready for our dinner. This was a small venue that was sold out. If you are interested in joining us at another cooking class and dinner, please contact us for future dates. krueger@globalbiz.net.
In December 2005 we were at the Project HOPE Luncheon at Orchard Lake Country Club. Our venue was a boutique table selling gifts for the home, decorative accessories, and jewelry.
Also in December 2005 our holiday spirit was shared with Odyssey Hospice Health Care. Celebrating the season with visitors and the health care group, our boutique once again offered jewelry, gifts, and decorative accessories for sale.
2006
Our fund-raising for 2006 began with the joint fundraising of Bagley Optical and Shades of Pink Foundation when we teamed together to present a Spring Shades (as in sunglasses) event on Saturday, April 29, 2006 from 1-4 p.m. at the store's Bloomfield Hills location, 4066 Telegraph Rd., Suite 2B (located in the strip mall just south of Starbucks on the southwest corner of Long Lake and Telegraph Roads). Vendors showing the newest eyeglass fashions, along with the expertise of our hostess, proved to be a successful day for all.
In May 2006 we re-visited Odyssey Hospice Health Care to celebrate Mothers Day and the coming of spring. Our boutique lifted the end-of-winter spirits.
On May 18 we hosted a special networking luncheon at Morels, A Michigan Bistro. Our featured speaker was Susan Sorenson, co-author of a newly published book titled "Praying Through Cancer". Inspired by the words of the contributors to her book and the enthusiasm of our businesswomen, the luncheon was a great success.
In the month of September 2006 a friend of the Foundation hosted a seafood spectacular in her home. Mmmmmmmm!
October 12 was the date of the Pink Shady Ladies meeting, volunteers for the Foundation. This gathering gave the Ladies an opportunity to meet and greet, discussing our activites for 2007 and volunteer opportunities for Shades of Pink Foundation.
2007
The 2007 fundraising began with an awesome lunch and lecture at Goldner Walsh Nursery and Garden Center on February 28. This venue was a sold out success. A stimulating lecture was given on Container Gardening as an appetizer to the luncheon. The greenhouse was transformed with table landscapes created by individual hostesses for the guests. We were uplifted with the subject of our luncheon speaker, Dr. Pamela Benitez, who spoke on the advances in breast cancer care. Look for more information on the Goldner Walsh link.
April 21 found us at the Detroit Zoo for our first annual Strides of Hope: A Walk at the Zoo. Walkers enjoyed a spectacular spring morning to enjoy their walk and enjoyed fellowship in the "Big Top" tent. Find more information on the Strides of Hope page.
August 2007 found us at Frame Art. Shades of Pink Foundation was the charity of choice for their annual fund raising party. Thanks Russ.
2008
In February 2008 Shades of Pink held its second annual Promise of Spring Luncheon at Goldner Walsh Nursery. Added to the luncheon date was a Candle Lite Preview held on the evening prior to the event. Those in attendance had the opportunity to enjoy previewing the tables while having a strolling supper and wine tasting in the tropical greenhouses.
